Research

I’m broadly interested in the ways in which rhetoric and technology interact, particularly the effect that technology has on communication practices. Some of my previous research has investigated the relationship between printing and knowledge-creation and the revision practices of Wikipedia editors.

For my current project, I'm investigating the differences between the techniques for creating texts in classical rhetorical theory and how texts are created in environments like Twitter.

As an Assistant Director of the CWRL I have been involved with a number of research projects related to rhetoric and writing. One of my favorites was working on viz., a web portal that investigates the connections between visual culture and rhetoric.

Teaching and Guest Lectures

I am a graduate student in the English Department at the University of Texas at Austin where I study computers, writing, and rhetoric. I teach for the Department of Rhetoric and Writing (DRW) and the Computer Writing and Research Lab.
