The Red Album

Weezer's new Red Album is out, and The Valve has something to say about it. I think I pretty much agree with this assessment. I hate "Heart Songs," but I kinda love "Everybody Get Dangerous" even if it is "forgettably adolescent."

This one is MUCH better than Make Believe even if it doesn't quite hit the level of Pinkerton or The Blue Album...but not much ever will. Plus, I'm 30 years old. If I was 18, I'm betting I'd love everything about the more recent Weezer efforts. People grow out of stuff.

If you were 18

...you'd be listening to hiphop. :P

Now Jim, because you are

Now Jim, because you are old, you should admire and RES-PECT Rivers even more now.

"NO, this is WEEZER......"

Have some respect for yourself

You're a graduate student now. Do yourself a favor and buy a couple albums by The Weakerthans, and stop trying to pretend that this is anything like the same Weezer we knew in the 1990s.

To be fair, Sage...Weezer

To be fair, Sage...Weezer has taken a back seat to my indie rock preferences in recent years: Neutral Milk Hotel, Phosphorescent, The Shins, Death Cab, etc.

Still, I can't give up on Weezer altogether. Have you listened to "Variations on a Shaker Hymn" from The Red Album? It's pretty awesome.
